Fast-Track to Attendance provides time-bound intervention to improve punctuality and attendance. Pupils referred to Fast-Track are persistently absent (90% attendance or less), have parentally condoned absence, or where parental engagement with school-initiated support has not been achieved.
Fast-Track to Attendance support:
- endeavours to engage parents and carers to prevent a worsening situation
- implements S.M.A.R.T actions (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-bound) to break down expectations into component parts to make success more achievable
- is child-centred to ensure children have every chance of educational success
- aims to prevent legal action*
*Where there is no improvement the Education Welfare Officer (EWO) will liaise with the relevant local authority about the possibility of instituting statutory intervention to secure regular attendance e.g. by applying for an Education Supervision Order, Penalty Notice, or Prosecution.
